Robbie, I quite agree with you; pieces simply announcing items for sale
in eBay should not appear routinely in MMD. This wastes air space, and
wastes your time to edit. Anyone in the market will be watching eBay,
and will have seen the item already.
Of course, after-sale reports about interesting transactions on eBay,
with the actual price, and details about the instrument from the
buyer's point of view, would be very appropriate material for MMD.
Much of the descriptive material published in eBay leaves a lot to be
desired, and I often wonder what something sold on eBay actually ended
up being.
"For Sale" ("FS:") announcements in MMD are another concern. People
who want to sell directly, in an environment more friendly to mech-
anical music, should be referred to the Player Piano And Mechanical
Musical Exchange:

The MMD newsletter should not be commercial. This does not mean that
announcements of something truly extraordinary coming on the market
anywhere, should not appear occasionally.
