I am working on a Themodist player, which was mostly disassembled.
Under the keyboard there are two control boxes. The pump has three
nipples coming out of it, two of 1" diameter which point right, and one
of 1-1/2" diameter which points left. On the control boxes, the one on
the left has four nipples coming off of it: three are 1" diameter and
the other is 1-1/2" diameter. The funny thing is that the biggest
nipple is pointing the opposite direction from the nipple off the pump.
More confusing, there are only two hoses going up. One from the right
control box (governor and tempo for wind motor) to the roll motor, and
one going up from the left control box to the stack.
After opening the left upper control box I couldn't determine where the
nipples went, what the slide valves were controlling, nor the function
of the box as a whole.
This piano was really abused and many things were disassembled in the
1960's. The bass and treble soft levers were disconnected and one was
made to operate the on/off switch for the electric vacuum. All I am
trying to do now is have it function as an 88-note player. Can anybody
give me a tubing diagram for this? I can't see why a hose would be
bent around to connect to a nipple facing the opposite direction.
