Seek DC Motor for Street Organ
By Philip Jamison

I'd like to add a motor to my street organ. I'm told the Dutch organs
use 24-volt battery-powered DC motors, the battery being charged by a
small generator, I believe. The DC motor sounds good as it would be
nice to have a speed control.

I wish to drive the 27-inch flywheel via a thin polyester flat belt.
My question is: what horsepower should I seek, and does anyone have any
specific recommendations? I'm no motor expert.

[ Talk to the folks who maintain the electric carts at the golf course,
[ and ask them also about small electric fork-lift motors. The motors
[ for these common vehicles would be the least expensive. -- Robbie
