Hello everyone. I'm a new subscriber to the MMD mailing list. I'm
a 50+year-old family doctor in the Philadelphia area. I've been
interested in mechanical musical instruments for a long time and have
visited a number of mechanical music museums in the U.S. and Europe.
I have absolutely no musical talent at all, but the sound of orches-
trions and the mechanics involved are a thrill to me. I found the
MMD web site after doing a search to find information on orchestrions.
I finally convinced my wife that since we both love them, and we are
redecorating our living room, that the acquisition of an antique,
restored, orchestrion would be a good idea. Since I am a novice as far
as these instruments are concerned (cost, value, upkeep, parts, etc.),
all information would be appreciated. My E-Mail address is
<Bernieb@netreach.net>.
As an aside, my other passion is collecting LGB model trains. These
are the big G gauge scale model trains (a car is about 14" long).
They are weatherproof and can be run outside. They can be found at
most amusement parks and outdoor garden railways. Visit my web site at
www.netreach.net/~bernieb or the LGB club web site (I'm the webmaster)
at http://www.LGBMRRC.com/
