As the editor of the FOPS magazine and author of their web site, you
may be interested to know that we are working on a page for the sale of
CDs, cassettes, books, videos, etc., etc. We already sell these items
on the rally fields in the UK and will be offering them worldwide as
soon as possible. I will let you all know when it's up and running.
As we can't afford a secure server, I'm working on a way to provide an
encrypted e-mail ordering service and this is where you come in.
Whilst there is a fall-back provision in the system so that it will
work one way or another, I want to automate the process as much as
possible. To do this I need to be able to identify the correct mail
server addresses for the person sending the order from their e-mail
address. It varies so much that it's not as simple as would seem.
I am asking you, if you can be bothered, to send a small e-mail
containing the following information to sales@fops.ndirect.co.uk.
Please note the address; it's not the same as my personal account.
your e-mail address (joe.bloggs@somewhere.com or whatever)
your POP3 mail server address (mail.somwhere.com or whatever)
your SMTP mail server address (SMTP.somewhere.com or whatever)
Your POP3 and SMTP mail server addresses may be the same, but list them
both anyway.
Look in your e-mail program for the information under "Tools" or
"Properties" or something similar. In Outlook Express it's under
Tools\Accounts\Mail\Properties. In Pegasus it's under
Tools\Options\Network.
I absolutely guarantee that this is not a way to build a mailshot
database and I am not a hacker! Your information will be collected and
then your e-mail will be deleted from my system. The only way I will
contact you if you reply is to say thanks via the medium of the MMD,
with their permission.
Thanks for your help.
