I was fortunate enough to recently acquire a Chickering 5'6" baby grand
piano with Ampico A in good condition. The piano was manufactured
about 1927 and has, what I am told, a "semi-art" case. Not knowing
what this actually means I can only state that it has six legs, of which
the legs of each pair are connected with a curved brace close to the
bottom, and the legs are executed with several turnings of different
diameters and have ball feet. The lyre connects with a brace on each
sides to the inward curved front leg braces and with a brace to the
curved rear legs brace.
What is missing, however, is a bench in the same style. I would very
much appreciate if any one of the readers of this message recognizes
from my description the type of case I refer to, and could help me with
information where I could obtain a picture of this piano and bench.
I intend to duplicate as close as possible the original bench (if I just
knew what it looks like).
