Hi, All...
This is off-subject so please bear with me but...
Saw a movie last night, "The 13th Floor", while very strange (called a
thriller in the advertising), was of particular interest because it has a
very interesting time flash-back from Los Angeles (my home) of 1999 to Los
Angeles of 1937, replete with a great night club (think of The Coconut
Grove at the Ambassador Hotel) with a terrific dance band led by a friend of
ours, Johnny Crawford. There are many scenes of L.A. in those days
including downtown with the Red Car street cars, etc, etc.
This was of interest to me because I love everything of that vintage (except
the reality of the depression), and sometimes daydream of going back to that
era. The movie took me there very effectively.
If there are other "retro" people out there, you might find this movie of
interest, as I did. Unfortunately, there were no mechanical musical
instruments that I could see in the film.
Regards,
Tom Steuer
