This instrument is a reed organ, also called "pump organ" or "parlor
organ" in everyday language. Your description suggests it is probably
a flattop model. This style was also called a "cabinet organ" and
would date from between c. 1855 to c. 1880. Please see the Reed Organ
Society web page for more information. http://sponsor.globalknowledge.nl/ros/
You have found a potential treasure!
