There will be a auction on June 5th, 1999 in Newport News, Virginia,
consisting of items from the estate of the late Fred Holland. Four
player pianos are in the list of items to be auctioned. Mr. Holland was
a florist, and a lover of expression player pianos. There is a 1921
Weber Duo-Art Grand, Serial Number 77219, mahogany, inlaid with tiger
maple, and which was restored in 1975, a 1925 Fischer Ampico Grand,
Serial Number 151863, also reported to have been restored, and a 1921
William Knabe Ampico Grand, Serial Number 90851, which will requires
complete restoration. A straight 1920 Hobart Cable Upright Player, with
simplex action is also on the list of items be sold. Also there are
about 200 piano rolls, some old and some new. For pictures of two of
the expression pianos, and a link to the auction house handling the
sale, you may go to:

and scroll down to where the auction information is posted. I have not
personally inspected these piano, so I cannot provide further
information on their condition. Please contact the auction house at
http://www.tomsauction.com/
for more information. The pictures of these pianos on the auction site
were very dark, so I agreed to attempt to make them viewable, and to
post the information, since the auction is only a week away. I have
no financial interest in these pianos, or in the firm that is selling
these pianos.
