Restoring Gold Lines
By Phil Dayson

Hello All,

All this talk of gilt and bronze powders has reminded me of a question
that I have been meaning to ask for a long time. I have restored the
case of a dancing doll Amorette with black lacquer/shellac. On the
case are a number of engraved or etched lines and patterns that
were originally gold coloured. How do I neatly restore these lines.
I've tried the obvious ways--fine brush and gold paint, not so fine
brush and masking tape-- both disastrous. Can anyone give me some
advice ?
