Just a little note regarding the Organ Rally in Temecula: It was
super! The best yet in Southern California.
Old Town Temecula is only about four long blocks long, and we had
organs spread all through. It was great, since you could walk the area
and keep going from the sound of one to the next, but they never fought
each other. The people really liked it, and we have been invited back
for next year.
We had person after person tell us that they came because they read in
the paper that we would be there, and they loved the music. (The two
local newspapers gave us great write-ups on Sunday, too, with pictures
and interviews.) We came with our generators, but the city has elect-
ricity available on each light post, and they unlocked the boxes for us
so we could use that.
One other little perk: Rosa's Cantina was picking people out of line
(those wearing the band organ vests), taking their order and picking up
the tab. They did this without saying anything about it, and those who
ate there just got this great perk. They said they did it because they
appreciated our being there so much, and we had brought a lot of people
to town!
Thanks to Robbie for the advance notice on MMD. Our next band organ
rally is in Sierra Madre CA on July 3rd, 1999.
