My Ampico had the original *twenty foot long* cloth-covered cord on
it when I purchased it. It was a very heavy wire and must have been
16 gauge. There were two parallel wires, first rubber covered, then
cloth covered, and the outer covering was deep maroon rayon.
Unfortunately this original cord was in very bad condition. I re-
placed it with heavy black rubber cord similar to that used on washing
machines, and power tools. It is not visible, and I would rather be
safe than "original"
In addition to finding this cord in bad condition, I would like to
mention that all the wires in the metal box on the back of the piano
and leading to the interior electrical box had deteriorated seriously.
All the rubber had crumbled, and was falling off most of the interior
wiring. It was not visible until I disassembled this box. I recommend
that everyone inspect their electric pianos for this problem, and
correct it if necessary.
In the many years that I worked on players, I did see one Weber Duo-Art
that was severely burned around the electrical box.
