Brinkley Mansion Pipe Organ in Del Rio TX
By Thomas W. Nyman, forwarded

[ In 981214 MMDigest Ed Gaida wrote about the pipe organ
 [ in Dr. Brinkley's mansion:
 [
[ "According to the man who removed the instrument from the building,
[ it had nine ranks of pipes and a player mechanism. He could not
[ remember what happened to the player, and the organ chests and pipes
[ have been used in various 'new' installations in Texas."

 Subject: Brinkley Organ

I am Thomas Nyman, and I own the Brinkley Mansion, Del Rio, Texas.
I was disappointed to read this account of the state of our organ.

Reuter Opus 444, with sixteen ranks, 1,063 pipes, drums, chimes and
bells is intact and restored in the ballroom for which it was built
in 1932.

I had the instrument fully restored shortly after I purchased the home
in 1994. Approximately 150 of the original paper rolls are still in
the home. The player has also been repaired, and at times performs
quite nicely although it requires regular tinkering.

I wonder if you know who made this inquiry about our instrument?

I am Sir, with respect,

Thomas W. Nyman
