Announcing "New England Music Rolls"
By Karl Ellison

Dear MMD, We'd like to announce a new business we've just started --
"New England Music Rolls" -- that sells original 88n, Ampico and Welte
player-piano roll recuts. In the future we'll also be providing
Duo-Art format rolls.

I have been collecting rolls for over five years now, and have had 3000
different rolls played on my piano in search of fun, intelligent, and
lively music. I also have access to a piporg-l member's private roll
library in Connecticut, thus giving us access to potentially super
future offerings.

NEMR has a webpage, http://members.aol.com/nemroll/home.html that
lists our selections, their prices, and gives you the ability to
listen fully to every selection via the RealAudio player (available
free) so that you may know if an arrangement is to your liking before
it's purchase.

Our initial selections consist of 15 well-orchestrated, lively and fun
fox-trots spread across different player systems. Artists that "play"
these rolls include Vee Lawnhurst, "Zez" Confrey, Jelly Roll Morton,
Eubie Blake and Pete Wendling. There is also what I think is an except-
ional Franz Liszt Polonaise classical roll. Thirteen more selections
will be added this summer, their titles and artist names are also
listed in the web page.

This business is new to us, very much learning through trial and error.
We'd like to publicly give thanks to the following people for their
invaluable contributions: to Dean Randall for his advice, suggestions
and support as I stumbled through many of the pitfalls in setting up
such a business; to Wayne Stahnke for taking extra time and effort to
accurately scan rolls that have gasped their last note; and to David
Saul of Precision Music Rolls for his advice and perforation services
without which, there would be no NEMR.

Watch for our half-page ad in the upcoming AMICA Directory. If you
know of someone that might be interested in our selections but does
not have Internet access, email their name and address and a four-page
flyer will be sent to them. Won't you take a minute to visit our
web page and listen to the selections we have to offer?
