Small Monkey Organs by John Smith
By Jeffrey Borinsky

Yesterday I went to a steam rally at Newbury (about 50 miles West of
London). There were about six fairground organs including Margaret
Cook's wonderful 93 keyless Andreas Ruth.

I was delighted to see John Smith with several of his home-built
monkey organs. I believe he has been advertising plans for these on
the Internet. These are sweet sounding instruments rather than loud
ones.

John has built wonderful animated figures into his organs. One instru-
ment had a whole musical family, all carved in wood; another had the
Wallace and Grommit characters along with two mice popping out of some
cheese.
