Janssen Piano Company offered a line of new line of players in 1937,
and Janssen displayed these pianos at the NAMM convention in 1937.
The new players offered the option of "expression action", which was
presumably a Recordo action, for an additional $70. Janssen also
offered a Welte-Mignon action for an additional $100.
Player Piano Co. offers a reprint of a Janssen player service manual,
dating from a recent vintage, which bears the Welte name but lacks any
expression systems. The service manual from PPCo. is apparently from
the 1960's. The Janssen pianos from the late 1930's clearly differ-
entiate the expression action and Welte-Mignon action.
Has anyone seen any of these late 30's Janssen players? Are there any
surviving expression players or Welte-Mignon players made by Janssen in
the later 1930's? I am interested in hearing from anyone who might own
or have seen one of these players.
