Hi. This question is for the computer inclined people. In my "step
piano" the computer (a 200 MHz Pentium) is equipped with a SoundBlaster
AWE32, and the speakers (powered with a 100 watt amplifier) are in the
bottom panel of the piano. It sounds great!
What I want to do is to add another separate MIDI port to the computer
to drive the piano, and set it as the default. The Pianomation system
responds to Channel 1.
On the user control box of the Pianomation is a MIDI port that delays
the MIDI information to synchronize a keyboard with the mechanical delay
of the Pianomation system. I tried this with my MIDI keyboard and
indeed, I can sync the keyboard with the piano.
What I want to do is to configure Cakewalk Pro Audio (version 6.0) to
send MIDI information through a separate port to the piano, through the
Pianomation control box, to the MIDI IN port of the SoundBlaster 32,
and have the sound card output set on MIDI synth (the loudspeakers).
In other words, to use the sound card only as a separate synthesizer.
Can this be done on the same PC?
The net result of this would be the Pianomation playing on channel 1,
and sending the other channels and MIDI information through the Piano-
mation user box, on to the MIDI IN port of the SB 32, and then to the
speakers for extra orchestration. This would be awesome.
Or am I only asking for a hardware conflict? Any information would
be appreciated, because if this will work, I would have over 100 "extra
instruments" to play along with the piano -- virtual orchestration!
Please help!
