On the weekend I bought a box of unusual rolls which turned out to be
Phonola rolls. I have read through the threads on Hupfeld Phonola
rolls in the MMD archives. At the risk of going into too much detail,
I thought I would add my own observations. Perhaps other MMDers will
have some information on the artists or recordings. Does anybody have
an idea of how many machines are around which play these rolls?
The rolls were once part of the Allan & Co. lending library. The dates
are watermarked on the leader. One roll has a label on the end of its
box marked:
'Claviola' Roll
Manufactured by
ALLAN & CO.Prop. Ltd.
