Chein Toy Church Organ
By John Kleinbauer

Hi All, It looks indeed like the organ I bought is made by Chein,
based on Mike Knudsen and Jim Canavan's descriptions. The organ does
chords just like Mike describes.

The reeds are in a circle like slices of pizza. There is a large thin
gear that lays flat on the reed bed.  The gear has four slots in it;
these slots form the letter "X". As the gear turns it lets air come
out of four reeds at a time. The reeds slowly start up and then fade
out.

The disappointment about the age or condition of the organ became
moot when I took it apart.  I did not buy the organ for my collection;
I bought it to see how it was constructed. The organ seems to have
been put in an oven to make it look older, or maybe it sat in a window
somewhere!
