112-keyless Gavioli at KDV Festival 5-6 June 1999
By Hans van Oost

Hello all, For those of you who are not acquainted with the sound
of English fair organs, and for those who love them, we are proud
to present a special one at our organ festival in Delft and Arnhem:

White's 112-key Gavioli, one of only two surviving mammoth Gavioli
organs, this one built in 1909 in Paris for the White brothers in
England. It was designed to play in a bioscope show and played with a
Scenic railway until both were discarded from commercial use in 1939.

These monsters were the biggest fair organs ever built by the Gavioli
company. Only two survive. The other is in the possession of Mr.
Preston of Potto. This organ has never played outside the UK since it
was built, except for one small tour to Paris in the early twenties.

Enjoy!

Hans van Oost,
Kring van Draaiorgelvrienden, Netherlands

[ According to the KDV web site, http://www.caiw.nl/~havo/en_idx2.htm

[ Times on both days are from 10 AM to 5 PM. This event is the
[ special two-day organ festival commemorating the 45th anniversary
[ of KDV. About 17 organs will play. -- Robbie
