I went to a Billy Joel concert last night, and was curious as to
what piano (about a 6'-7" grand) that he used. So I focused my
binoculars on the name on the fallboard. It was just a hair too far
to make out the name, but it turns out that the name was also on the
side of the piano, in black, on the black finish of the piano. At
least it was a larger font, and I was able to make out the name:
Kurzweil.
An interesting piano; it had about a 14" monochrome video monitor
embedded into the piano about where the stand would be to hold the
music. There also was some collection of switches, and or controls
located in the same plane as the keys, but behind the keys towards
where the piano action would be located.
Having limited knowledge of various piano builders except the more
common ones -- Baldwin, Steinway, Young Chang(?), Boesendorfer --
I was a bit curious what any of you can tell me about Kurzweil?
(They also make electronic pianos/keyboards. There were two of them
on the stage set as well.)
Thanks
