Mid-Am MBSI "Monkey Organ Festival" 30 April 1999
By Gary Stevenson
I am not trying to bother anyone with this notice but I would like to
post it again this month. If you have sent an Email for this event
to <gstevens@dtd1.slps.k12.mo.us> and have not gotten an answer back,
_please_ send your request again. My Email server has been down at
work and all mail posted for the past two weeks were lost.
The first Mid-Am event of 1999 will be the chapters "Monkey Organ
Festival" and Chapter Meeting. MBSIers, Mid-Amers and MMDers alike,
are invited to historic St. Charles Missouri on the banks of the
Missouri River for two days of friends, food, fun and mechanical
music. This events will take place Friday evening April 30th, and all
day Saturday May 1st 1999.
Children have played a major part in the history of the organ grinders
throughout the world. Many poor children during the 19th century lived
their short lives cranking an organ or playing other instruments on the
street.
In order to pay back a small debt to these children of history, it was
decided that during the MBSI Mid-Am chapter meeting in St. Charles MO,
members playing their Monkey Organs will be offered a special container
to collect money to help support the children of the "Ronald McDonald
House Childrens Charities."
(All moneys will be turned over to the "Ronald McDonald House Childrens
Charities" during the banquet meeting.)
