Source of Piano Rolls: The Pianola Shop, Brighton UK
By Adam G. Ramet
The following site should be of interest to fellow MMDers. Whilst
browsing the net I spotted that Dave Dibley (The Pianola Shop, Brighton
UK) has totally updated his web-site with pictures of instruments for
sale (click "Brighton Showroom") and nearly 1000 second-hand piano
rolls for sale (click "Original Rolls" graphic).
All the standard 88-note rolls are fixed price and sorted by type
of music;- popular, word rolls, shows, opera, light etc. There are
also couple dozen or so AudioGraphic rolls for sale. The long and
detailed roll lists load quickly and titles are alphabetically sorted.
"Classical" is sorted by composer - which is a sensible arrangement!).
Visit the site, it's well worth a look-in. The URL is;-
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/pianola_shop/
I called and ordered a few choice rolls and spoke with Dave about the
site. He says there are many more in store but it is all a matter of
time entering the rolls into the computer in the first place.
And good news to collectors;- after having a thorough sort out of
his roll store he should be offering some sought-after rolls for odd
systems in the near future -- once he gets round to typing them all in
of course, that is. ;) Dave said the rolls are on a first-come first
served basis and the page will be updated frequently as rolls are added
and sold.
Yours sincerely
