New Recut Aeolian Duo-Art Pipe Organ Rolls
By Richard Vance

In 990220 MMDigest there was an advertisement for a new source of supply
for 176-note Aeolian Duo-Art Pipe Organ rolls. I ordered a dozen and
just received them today. I am happy to report that they are a very
fine product.

They are cleanly punched on modern dry-waxed paper, well boxed, and
even have the original elaborate leader-stamp design reproduced on
the tip.

Of greatest importance, they seem to have been pulled through the
perforator straight, so they roll back up evenly, unlike some organ
roll recuts I could name, They are properly trimmed to produce the
correct relationship between the outermost perforations and the edge
of the paper.

This is very important for such rolls. There are usually three sensing
fingers in the spoolbox. One finger, which is adjustable with a knob,
centers the roll by shifting the transmission in the usual manner. The
other two fingers, mounted in each end of the sectional 'expanding'
tracker bar, position each end section of the bar so that the very
small holes in the very wide paper line-up with all the tracker ports,
regardless of the actual width of the paper. This won't work unless
the roll is accurately trimmed.

Another advantage that these rolls have over other pipe organ roll
recuts is that they actually exist, and can be shipped from stock now.

Please copy the block of text below, and paste it into the very
excellent list of MM sources that was published in MMD this Tuesday
(99.03.03), right between 'COOLING MILLER' and 'KEYSTONE'.
