Hello everyone, I have been quietly reading posts here for some time.
Finally, I would like to participate in some discussions and get some
suggestions and input from all of you.
I have a piano business, Carriage House Music, located south of
Portland Oregon. We have been here for 5-1/2 years and we do a lot of
rebuilding and reconditioning of pianos from the era 1890 - 1935. From
time to time we find a player or reproducing player to restore. I have
limited experience with the restoration of the player mechanisms, but
with time I hope to have a better understanding of them.
We have about 70 piano students here as well as a supply of sheet
music, as we work a lot with local music teachers. We have found that
it's hard to beat some of the older uprights with proper restoration
done. We very much enjoy vintage pianos.
We are also excited about the 'Pleyel' pianos. We are a new Pleyel
piano dealer. Our first shipment should be coming soon. If you have
had the chance to see or play these new pianos I would be very
interested in hearing from you.
Currently we have a Franklin upright Marque Ampico, a 1925 5' 8" Ampico
Chickering grand without it's player, and a 1922 6'4" Chickering Ampico
A all intact and being restored (400 or so older rolls with it.).
I will be asking for some suggestions from you all soon, concerning
these instruments.
Thanks.
