After reading the message from John Perkins/Marie Roe, I'm reminded of
a similar incident some years ago. This was before the era of handy
cam-corders but a regular camera could have been used. Anyway, since
having one experience, I've made it a firm rule to pictorially record
the condition of any instrument that is to be moved either into or out
of my shop.
It's very upsetting to see a truck driver wearing hobnailed boots
climbing all over the case of a Steinway grand which was on its side
in his semi-trailer. Fortunately, that wasn't my piano, or I'd have
raised holy hell right there on the spot.
With the ready availability of cam-corders taking pictures, and even
the sound, of any instrument, could be important evidence in the event
of damage.
