I just received Artis Wodehouse's latest product -- a new folio
of Jelly Roll Morton piano solos, which contains her note-for-note
sheet music transcriptions of these classic solo pieces from
the Vocalstyle piano rolls: Grandpa's Spells, King Porter Stomp,
London Blues, Original Jelly Roll Blues, Shreveport Stomps,
Stratford Hunch.
Pianist Butch Thompson ("Prairie Home Companion") contributed several
paragraphs of his warm personal views about Jelly: "... Morton's way,
that wonderful combination of lyricism and down-home rhythm." The Hal
