I am finally getting MIDI files for the PowerRoll or E Roll that are
turning out very good. Even the difficult rolls are now working
and sounding just like an original roll in perfect condition. These
are not perforator masters and someone with the critical abilities of
a Douglas Henderson would probably find something wrong with them.
To me they sound very good.
I would like to get a list of Duo-Art PowerRoll owners with whom to
share this music. I could do an e-mailing once a week of my favorite
rolls, as I make them. This weeks roll will be Mendelssohn's Fingal's
Cave Overture (A32, from the Audiographic series), possibly one of the
best Duo-Art rolls made. Next weeks will probably be the Bach-Busoni
Chaconne (6928), another unbelievable roll. Later I will do the
Saint-Saens Concerto in G-Minor complete, and a bunch of Beethoven
including the 111 and the Waldstein Sonatas. I will also do some of
the French and Spanish composers and some of the more unusual rolls.
The music will be free, with the one stipulation that feedback is
demanded. Anyone who just takes the music and doesn't offer criticism
will be dropped from the list. Suggestions for future releases will be
welcome and loaned rolls will help keep the process going.
These rolls will be some of the most demanding of a Duo-Art piano but
will knock your socks off if your piano is up to snuff.
