Dear MMD: Tim Trager has made an appeal for the finding of an original
Automatic "G"-Roll number 775 or a Freyer re-cut of same, which echoes
my appeal for the same roll awhile back in October 1998. Alas, no such
rolls have surfaced, but I know they are out there. I asked Dave Ramey
if he had one to recut, and he didn't, but he would if he had one.
Dave is going to recut two of my G-rolls and eight of my A-rolls.
I am also going to ask him to recut the A-roll counterpart of G-775:
Clark A-637, "Selected Jazzy Sensations" (of which I have on an old
Freyer re-cut), with the following tunes that parallel the G-roll
except for 1 or 2 tunes:
1. Oh, Boy, What A Girl! -- OS
2. What Do We Care If It's 1 O'clock or 2 or 3 or 4 -- W
3. Sweet Man -- FT
4. I'm Afraid I'm Falling In Love -- FT
5. I Care For Her, And She Cares For Me -- OS
6. What's The Good Of Dreams -- FT
7. I Wonder -- W
8. Feelin' Kind O' Blue -- FT
9. Want A Little Lovin' -- FT
10. Give Us the Charleston -- FT
These rolls have a very eerie, bluesy sound that have to be heard
to be appreciated, so everyone check their "roll-o-dex" and look for
an original G-775 or Freyer recut (not the Play-Rite recut which has
a lot of perforating errors)!
Thanks,
Mark Forer
