Igor Kipnis, the celebrated harpsichordist, pianist, keyboardist and
lecturer, who is using reproductions of piano rolls in some of his
presentations, seeks the following Welte Mignon (Licensee) rolls:
6557 H. Levy - Two Waltzes: No. 1
6562 Chopin - Nocturne, Op. 62, No. 2, E
6591 Bach-Liszt - Organ Prelude and Fugue, a: Prelude
6537 Chopin - Trois nouvelles etudes, No. 1, f
6724 Chopin - Etude, Op. 25, No. 5, Gb ?Butterfly?
7323 H. Levy - Variations on an Original Theme - Part One
7324 H. Levy - Variations on an Original Theme - Part Two
7365 H. Levy - Two Waltzes: No. 2
7534 Chopin - Mazurka, Op. 33, No. 4, b
7780 Chopin - Waltz, Op. 64, No. 3, Ab
Heniot Levy was his grandfather, and he is anxious to obtain recordings
of these performances. As he is a busy man, with concert obligations
coming up, he has commissioned me to speak for him. He wants to locate
and borrow the rolls, hoping for ultimate transfer in some form of the
ten set down by Levy in the late '20's.
Please contact me at the E-mail address with information as to your
holdings. His attempts in the past to get one of them recorded for
use in one of his lectures were unsuccessful, probably because of the
particular reproducing piano's limitations.
Any help anyone can give will be much appreciated.
Best to all,
Albert Petrak
