I am posting a letter sent to me from Pauline Gashinski of Ontario
Canada, <pgashins@atikokan.lakeheadu.ca>.
I can only presume that it was built in Paris, and possibly exported
direct to Canada, although the idea of a dummy organ mounted on top is
interesting. I would also presume that it was broken up when it was no
longer useful, as was the fate of so many of these great organs. There
is no mention of the type of show that the organ featured.
Is there anyone out there who can throw any light on this intriguing
mystery? Please reply to MMD and Pauline.

My grandfather Richard Monte was a fairground showman (using the name
Randall Williams), and in 1906 he acquired a new show built around a
110-key Gavioli organ that featured automatic coloured lights as well
as a simulated 2nd organ mounted above the main organ. It was sup-
posedly the most powerful and largest organ of its kind at that time.
I was wondering if you have any information on this type of organ,
where it would have been built, and where my grandfather would have
gotten hold of it. I was wondering also what would have happened
to it?
I would appreciate any information or advice that you may have for me
and hope that you do not mind taking the time to respond to my letter.
Sincerely,
Pauline Gashinski
