I have never bought pneumatic cloth from PPCo, but have had the
following experiences:
1. I was restoring an Estey reed organ, the first time I had ever
messed with a musical instrument. PPCo talked me through cleaning
reeds, recovering the whites of the keyboard, and told me of a unique
way to make my own stop knob labels. (You print the names out on your
computer using an appropriate font and on heavy bond paper, then paint
on two coats of Elmer's glue, which bleeds the ink ever so slightly,
giving the appearance of age.)
2. I then moved on to repairing and restoring to playable condition
a 1914 Krell Upright. PPCo was very helpful in talking me through
leveling the keys, as 84 years of mice, moths and time had reduced
the keyboard balance rail felts to powder. Using a unique technique
suggested by their technicians (it involves fishing line) I was able
to get the keys flat to within .004" (Yes! .004"!) in about 3 hours
time, having never leveled a keyboard before.
Sooo, even if one of their products leaves something to be desired,
I would not call them my choice of last resort!!!
