Hi gang, It seems as though there is an expert in everything dealing
with music in the MMD, be it mechanical or otherwise. Well, here is
a question for you.
During February 1955, the Ed Sullivan Show in New York was featuring
military college choirs along with a parade of recording stars of the
day: West Point, Air Force Academy, The Naval Academy and The Citadel,
The Military College of South Carolina were featured. I attended The
Citadel and was thus on the show the first Sunday night in February,
as I recall.
Eartha Kitt was on the show with us along with Ray Block, the orchestra
leader, and of course, Ed Sullivan. I have contacted each of the major
networks and none will respond. I want to purchase a copy of that show
which I think has been converted from kinescope to videotape. You can
buy a series of Sullivan shows from TV ads, but I am afraid the Beatles
were a little more deserving of being converted and sold than The
Citadel Cadet Choir.
I have been searching for a source of purchase for nearly 10 years
without results. Is there anyone out there that is able to help?
I don't even remember the network for the Sullivan Show.
By the way, Eartha Kitt split her tights during Saturday rehearsal and
didn't know that 125 Citadel Cadets were behind the curtain. As she
closed the curtain in front of her, she was very surprised to see the
stares of the Choir, focused on the torn tights.
Any help with my search for a copy of the February 1955 Ed Sullivan
Show would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
