A roll with 88 notes, theme holes, and additional coding outside these
down the margin of the roll? Sounds like it comes from the Hupfeld
school of design. Could be Triphonola (except, as Dan Wilson said,
these rolls never give any hint of 'swing' in the music!). Perhaps,
because the query said the roll was multi-tune, this is a Hupfeld coin-
op variant (such as the Animatic-S -- not that I know what format these
have), or another company using Hupfeld-like technology (Phillips?).
I would expect such a roll to be German rather than English -- but
there are so many oddities it's hard to be sure without seeing the
paper, the spool ends, the perforation style, the markings, that sort
of thing.
