Have been working on Ampico A valves and I cannot seem to get a seal
on the top valve that does not leak!
The bottom valves were tested after replacing the pouches and rebuild-
ing the bottom valve. All precautions were taken to seal the wood
under the pouch. I then glued the valve body back together (I replaced
the Bakelite seat for the bottom valve). After testing each unit for
leakage at the bottom valve, I proceeded to place new top valve covers.
I have set the valves for 1/32 inch travel and they operate very, very
well.
There is, however, a very slight leak when the test pneumatic is
closed and valve is closed against the top valve cover. I am using
(what I consider to be) a very good leather for the top valve. I am
testing at 17-18 lbs. of air.
Any ideas that will move me toward an airtight valve on the top will
be appreciated. Thanks
