Chicago Paradise Theatre Wurlitzer Organ
By Mike Wallace

Hi Robbie and all. The Chicago Paradise Theater Wurlitzer organ was
removed in 1956 when the theater was razed. It was then installed in
Los Angeles where it was recorded many times by George Wright. The
owner then sold the organ and it was re-installed in Phoenix, Arizona,
in the home of William Brown. Bill Brown owns (or did own) many
theatre organs and has been instrumental in placing them in very fine
settings where they could be enjoyed.

The Paradise organ was a "special 5 manual" of 21 ranks of pipework and
is still in the Brown residence. I have heard the organ in it's
present setting and it is a really fine instrument. It has also been
recorded where it is now installed by Lyn Larsen. My favorite
recording by Lyn is now on a re-issue on CD and is well worth
obtaining. Hope this helps.
