I'm pleased to announce that a effective the 01 Jan 1999 Bob Fitterman,
Robbie, and I have started a major upgrade to the look and feel of the
MMD Website.  The MMD home page is greatly simplified and navigation
from one part of the Website to another has been made much more
intuitive.  Please take a moment to browse the new Website and learn
about some of the new features.  Here's a partial list:

    *  Each page will have a navigation bar at the top providing
       direct links to the major sections of the MMD Website.
       Each section is color coded.  Although the page layout
       has some of the features of Websites done using "frames",
       this has been done without frames and should work with
       most browsers, including WebTV.

    *  Each page will have a "How I got here" list.  For instance
       MMD -> Archives -> December 1998 -> 1998.12.02 -> 03

       Working from right to left, it means you are looking ate the
       3rd article of the Digest for December 02, 1998, which was
       accessed through the Archive page for December 1998, which
       was accessed from the main Archives section, which was
       accessed from the MMD home page.  Each of the items above
       is a hot link so you can jump easily backwards to a more
       general part of the Website.

    *  Where appropriate, there will be "Next" and Previous" links
       so you can go to the next article, or day's index.

    *  Within the Archives there are many references that are
       turned into links by Bob's program.  Links to Websites
       in articles become hot links so you can just click on
       them.  The same is true for e-mail addresses (although
       you may have to manuall remove the .geentroep from
       the e-mail name).

    *  Within the Archives there are extra links within each
       article display taking you to appropriate places in the
       keyword index.

    *  There is now a calendar of upcoming Mechanical Music events.
       The list is currently heavily weighted with MBSI events, but
       all other scheduled events of interest will be placed in
       the list if we can get the information in time.

    *  There's lots more, and there's more to come.  Robbie's retired
       now, so he'll be doing a lot more for the Website, including
       researching and generating new content (articles, pictures,
       audio recordings, etc).
