We had to move into metal pipes. Our Tuba Mirabela is a very sweet
pipe with a rich, brassy sound. The band organ needed a _brass_ sound.
We have built a new trumpet pipe that produces the sound we desired.
The wooden trumpet which we used in the prototype organ sounded just
like the trumpets of the past. Just like the originals, it lacked
the crisp brassy sound.
We have just begun to build metal pipes! We are using non-traditional
metals just because it is a matter of time before some political do-
gooder will decide that pipes containing lead are bad.
With this in mind, we obtained non-ferrous material from an aerospace
company. This material is a mixture of copper and brass and was used
as skin on satellites. It makes wonderful pipes!
We had cores machined by a local shop and formed the material. The new
pipes are now in the shop getting our traditional flow bench testing.
The first picture shows the new pipe resonator next to the wooden one
it replaces. The second picture is of our newest line inspector,
Dolceanna, after a grueling day!

[ What's the ASTM designator of the material, Vicki? In the
