Movie: "The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T."
By Joyce Brite
Turner Classic Movies broadcast the offbeat film, "The 5,000 Fingers of
Dr. T." last night. It was released in 1953 and stars Hans Conried and
Tommy Rettig. The film's description is given as "A piano teacher has
a disturbing effect on a boy's dreams."
I only saw bits and pieces of this film, which is very different from
the movies they usually show on TCM! I did see the next to last scene
where the 500 boys have been gathered to play an elongated, multi-level
piano simultaneously.
The host, Robert Osborne, said that the film was a flop when it first
came out in 1953, but that it has now become a cult classic. Can
anyone provide more information about this film? Thanks.
