RCA Music Synthesizer Played Piano Rolls
By Bill Chapman

When I was 16 (just a few years ago) I was record shopping (33-rpm mono
era) and stumbled across a record of the RCA Music Synth. It was a huge
roomful of machinery, oscillators and such. I gave the record away to
a friend who still has it, so the details are a little sketchy.

The various oscillators were keyed from a punched piano roll. It was
primitive, but interesting. It even imitated a human voice singing
"Daisy Daisy Give Me.." It was an RCA recording made in the mid 1950s.
