Lenora Schumacher sends thanks for Joe's support.
Hi gang, It is still a long haul but Joe Schumacher continues to
improve from his stroke (about two months ago). We visited him tonight
and, with the exception of a few slurred words, he can now chat fairly
well. He still has little motion on his right side but he is learning
to swing his hip and , with a brace and help, he can walk a little.
Since last week, his progress is very evident. He will be moved to a
Rehabilitation Center near his home, next week. Doctors says that it
will be about 6 months before he finally goes home.
The letters, cards and phone calls have flooded into the hospital for
Joe who is loved throughout the world. Lenora, his wife, gave me the
following note to send out to the MMD members. Thanks again to Jody
and Robbie for allowing me to use this mode of communication to folks
who know Joe Schumacher.
From Lenora Schumacher
"I am at a loss for words to express my deep appreciation for all
the kindnesses shown to us during Joe's illness. Thank you so much
for the prayers, cards, letters, phone calls, and visits. They have
been encouraging on some very difficult days. The doctors say Joe's
recovery will take time and a lot of hard work. At the moment,
nothing indicates there will be more problems. Our heartfelt thanks
go out to you all. Joe and Lenora Schumacher"
Continue to send in your notes, letters, etc. Joe has a long way to
go, but now he seems headed in the right direction. Contact me at
<cotps@aol.com> if you want Joe's new address at the Rehabilitation
Center. I am sure he will continue to appreciate your prayers and
support.
With best regards,
Rick and Betty Cooley, Hockessin, Delaware
(about three miles from Joe and Lenora)
