Bill Chapman's comment about the existing stock of reproducing pianos
struck a chord (pardon the pun !)

I've been trying to sell a rather nice Marshall & Rose Ampico A Grand
for some time. My spirits rose when I offered it to the trade and the
man said "Ampicos are quite good." Then he said "You can rip out all
that junk and no one would ever know it had been a player. You can
never cover up an ex-Duo-Art."
This was two weeks ago, not 30 years ! I was horrified, but the fact
is I could sell the piano, mechanism and rolls separately and make more
than selling it as a complete entity. Fear not - I'll go to my grave
(inside it ?) before I let that happen !
Anyone wanna buy an Ampico ?
