Dear Peter and MMDers, My Marque Ampico has a transposing tracker bar.
I believe that cutting off the notes when in manual mode is to prevent
those notes from sounding by any expression coding in the holes that
invade the note area if the tracker bar is moved up or down from the
central registration. Ditto for the sustain pedal. If you do not have
a transposing tracker or don't ever intend to use it, you could omit
the cutoffs from those holes.

I also have the pneumatic on the spool box that forces the machine
into Automatic mode when reroll is activated. Mine is fully restored
but mechanically disconnected as we use the piano most often for
playing 88-note rolls.
