While visiting an antique mall in Indiana this past weekend, I happened
upon some 65-note rolls. I have noticed that some on the MMD have been
specifically looking for 65-note rolls so I thought I'd pass the
information along.
There are 17 rolls available. These rolls are the same width as
88-note rolls. The holes in the paper are much wider, and there are
pins extending out from each end of the roll.
Most were in original boxes with small wood blocks on each end for the
roll pins to lay into. I very briefly inspected them. I consider them
to be in fair, repairable condition. Some of the roll tab ends were
torn up or missing. The paper was very flexible, not brittle, so I
expect that the rolls would play well after minor repairs. I did not
immediately recognize any of the names on the rolls but I did not look
at them all closely.
The proprietor complained that these had been sitting around way too
long and that he didn't understand why these didn't sell. I explained
to him why these rolls were different and they only had value to
someone who had an instrument to play them on. Other 88-note rolls
were in the building for $5.00 each. He had marked these down to $1.00
each. By the time I left, be begged me to take them all with me for
$10.00 total. I did not take them.
