Cecilian Piano Player
By Hal Davis
The rolls for the early models of the Cecilian piano player unit are
13-1/4 inches wide. The sixty five holes across the tracker bar are
spaced wider the farther they are from the center. This was done
apparently to compensate for expansion of the paper used to make the
music rolls. Having owned one of these units I have some limited
experience with them.
I've heard that there some player pianos made for a short time that
also used these wider rolls but I've never seen one or know of one that
is actually still in existence. The Cecilian rolls that I have are all
in excellent condition and are claimed to be "Connorized" whatever that
is.
There is some excellent music available on 65 note rolls in this wider
format as well in the regular eleven and one quarter inch rolls.
