Artizan Band Organ
By Tommy Forney

I would love to see a picture of your organ. There is not much inform-
ation around on Artizans that I have found. We have an A-2 which also
has been converted to play Wurlitzer 125 rolls. Ron Bopp's book, The
American Carousel Organ, is very good for basic identification.

From the pictures you sent, and Ron Bopp's book, your organ must be
the X-A-1 model, 46 key, which was 5' 3" and weighed 320 lbs.

The rewind mechanism on our organ also had problems and would not
function and I considered things as drastic as redoing the bellows
that operates it until I finally found that the tubing was clogged
with paper. It would work if I took the tubing loose and sucked the
bellows closed. The solution was to blow back through the tracker bar
with the tube disconnected which goes to the valve block.

I'll let more expert people explain the "animated" pipes, but we had
some of those too, where the trumpets have a black leather piece that
has probably dried out and lost its tight fit.

You can see a picture of our carousel organ at
