Melinda, I expect that there is probably nothing much wrong with your
music box if you can look at its parts and see nothing obvious broken.
(I know this is a rather rash statement, but if it was not obviously
mistreated, it's probably true.) So here's my offer.
If you would like to put the little guy in a small box and send it to
me, I will give it the look-see and get it running for you for free if
nothing it broken. Otherwise, you just pay for the part, which I agree
is likely to be the gear that drives the worm. If it's something
serious, I'll let you know and send it back if you want. All it costs
is postage both ways.
Of course, there's no such thing as a free lunch, so in return, I want
you to join the MBSI, where you will learn all about these little
wonders so you can fix the next one yourself. What do you say? Reply
in the MMD and I'm sure Beatrice Robertson will send you a membership
package.
As an alternative, send me a note with your location/city and I will
try to find you a local person to look at it for you.
Regards,
Craig Smith
Attn. Bea -- What do you think? Looking for something to do this
winter? How about a free restoration job with every new membership.
Good thing Melinda didn't buy a Molinari or a Knabe.
