New Player Piano Owner
By John Dewey
In reply to Doug Walters. From my experience with this type of
instrument just re-tubing the player might work for a few hours of
playing but in all probability you will need to do a complete overhaul
of the whole player system.
When I was getting started I did several "patch work repair only what
looked bad" jobs and ended up doing a complete rebuilding on every one
of them. Robbie's advice about finding a local player tech is the best
I could give. Get hold of Larry Givens book "Rebuilding the Player
Piano", try your local library.
Also you will probably want to have some work done on the piano itself
if this has not been done. This applies even if this instrument is
just for having the neighbors in, have a few beers, and everyone stands
around and sings way OFF key type of use.
