Calliope Blower with Electric & Gasoline Motors
By Hal Davis
It is not always necessary to have a generator to run a turbine type
blower. I often run my Cozatt Calliope with a small Briggs and
Stratton engine. While I mostly use the electric motor, it takes only
a moment to slip the drive belt off the electric motor and onto the
gasoline engine.
Another band organ/calliope operator in the area uses a gas engine
exclusively. Only if a player unit is attached might an electrical
generator be needed.
However, since the people want to hear someone playing the calliope
live, my roll player is almost never used. The last time it was used
in public was July 6th, 1986.
