Aeolian Duo-Art Organ Tracker Bar Scale
By Bruce Clark

After retiring, I have been cleaning out a lot of things, and found a
crumbling Aeolian Duo-Art Pipe organ tracker bar scale, from the days
when I worked on a few of them. I thought I would pass on the
information to those who have an Aeolian Duo-Art Player organ and to
those interested. The information should be preserved for prosperity.
I have added a few comments for those not familiar with organ terms.

The 176 note segmented expanding and contracting tracker bar has two
sets of holes, Upper and Lower. The expanding and contracting is to
accommodate expansion of the width of the paper and to insure proper
tracking.

Perforations in the roll wanting to play the lower holes straddle the
upper holes and are functional with the lower holes. The upper holes
are even numbers, and the lower holes are odd numbers. Starting with
number one on the right:

1. Trem (tremulant)
        2. Echo (Echo division, a smaller organ located remotely
from the main division.)
3. Tonal
        4.Chimes
5. Harp
        6. Trem
7. ( for custom additions?)
        8. Harp
9.
        10.Trumpet
11.
        12.Oboe
13. Gt.-Sw. I (Great to swell, can't remember if these are
swell shades or ?)
        14.Vox H (Vox Humana)
15. GT-SW II
        16.Diap. MF (Diapason half loud)
17. GT-SW III
        18. 16' FL (16' Flute)
19. GT-SW IV
        20. 4' FL (High end of flute)
21.GT-SW V
        22. FL- P (soft flute)
23. GT-SW VI
        24. STR VIB- F (String vibrato)
25. 16' Bassoon
        26. STR - F (String Loud)
27. 16' STRING
        28. STR - MF (String Half loud)
29. 16' FL F
        30. STR-P (String Soft)
31. 16 FL - P
        32. STR - PP (String Very Soft)

At this point the numbers change. CC 1 and all lower holes continue
upward chromatically to 58 which is "A". The upper holes are
duplicate for the upper manual.

Essentially there are two sets 58 tracker bar holes, making a
116-note organ scale. Add this twice, and add the 32 command ports,
and the numbers begin again at

149. STR - PP (Soft string)
        150. SW - SW I (Swell to Swell)
151. STR - P
        152. SW - SW II
153. STR - F
        154. SW - SW III
155. FL - P ( Flute Soft)
        156. SW - SW IV
157. FL - F (Flute Loud)
        158. SW - SW V
159. 4' FL (Upper end of flute)
        160. SW - SW VI
161. DIAP. F (Diapason loud)
        162. (Blank or for custom additions)
163. PICC. (Piccolo)
        164.
165. CLAR. (Clarinet)
        166.
167. TRUMPET
        168. CHIMES P (chimes soft)
169. CHIMES
        170. Back, End, Stop motor (This stops the air motor on
some units.)
171. ECHO
        172. Stop Motor
173. (This was Rewind on one organ I worked on.)
        174. Normal
175. STR. PPP
        176. PED. to UPPER
